I believe the Merchant of Venice is anti-Semitic because I believe that Shakespeare has made Shylock look like he cares about his money being taken as well as his daughter going of with a Christian lover.
The reason why I believe it is because it’s makes Shylock look as if he cares about his money more than his daughter is because a normal person with a daughter or son who decides to leave with your money what your first thoughts be? I believe that people wouldn’t care about the money all of there concerns will be about there kid wondering whether or not there safe, but Shakespeare made the Jewish character Shylock look as if he cared about his money as much as his daughter.
The definition of antisemitism is when Jews where discriminated in Venice here are some examples of the being in the text of them being discriminated.
•Antonio spat on Shylock
•When Antonio called Shylock a dog
•When the Christians brought slaves beat them punished them and called Shylock a bad person from asking for Antonio’s pound of flesh.
Here is the quotation for it “what judgement should I dread, doing wrong?you have among you many a purchased slave,Which, like your asses and your dogs and mules,You use in abject in slavish because you bought them.Shall I say to you,’let them be free! Marry them to your heirs?
Shylock is trying to say what judgement should he dread? you purchased slaves beat them force them to to your dirty work yet still have the nerve to call me cruel? when you beat or punish someone or sell them to other people wouldn’t that be a pound of flesh?there for you have no right to call me crazy.
There where several time where the play seemed to be discrimination against the Jews, for example they spat on Shylock the Jew,Laughed at his loses, called him a dog and when the Christians buy slaves and expect to nobody to say anything but the one time Shylock said if Antonio doesn’t pay Shylock the money back that he owed him he would take a pound of his flesh, with Antonio knowing the consequences he took his chances and took the money, and when Antonio didn’t pay back Shylock’s money he called Shylock cruel for asking for a pound of flesh.

Hi Waleed,
Good effort! What this needs more than anything is structure.
I see you have bulletpointed the events you are going to talk about. The next thing to do would be to find the quotes from the play that refer to those specific events.
Once you’ve done that, make sure every paragraph has the following:
1) A point regarding antisemitism in the play
2) The sentence from the play which refers to the antisemitism that you are talking about
3) Analysis of the quote that you have used
